How to use an online teleprompter for a video call

  1. Write or paste your script directly into the tool.
  2. Set the speed and text size until the pace feels like your normal talking speed.
  3. Move the browser window (or go full screen) so the text sits as close to your webcam as possible.
  4. Click Start Reading, then Play - the script scrolls automatically.
  5. Press Space to pause any time, and the arrow keys to adjust speed on the fly.

Common teleprompter problems and fixes

  • Text scrolls too fast or too slow: use the speed slider, or press the Up/Down arrow keys while reading to adjust it live without breaking your pace.
  • You keep looking away from the camera: move the browser window as close to your webcam as your screen allows, or go full screen so the text fills the space right under the lens.
  • Text is too small to read from a distance: increase the text size slider - the display is built to stay readable at large sizes without wrapping awkwardly.
  • Full screen doesn't work or exits unexpectedly: some browsers only allow full screen from a direct click, and pressing Esc always exits it by design. Click the Full Screen button again rather than a keyboard shortcut.
  • My script isn't there after I closed the tab: autosave writes to your browser's local storage, which is occasionally cleared by private browsing modes or a "clear site data" setting. Re-paste it and it will autosave again from there.
  • I need the text flipped for a teleprompter rig: click Mirror - this flips the text horizontally for use with physical teleprompter glass, which reflects everything left-to-right.
  • I lost my place after scrolling manually: click Jump to Start to return to the top, or just scroll back up - the display supports normal manual scrolling any time playback is paused.

Is this online teleprompter free?

Yes. It is free to use, requires no sign-up, and there is nothing to download or install.

Is my script uploaded anywhere?

No. Your script never leaves your browser. It is saved only in your own browser's local storage so a refresh does not lose it, and is never sent to Meetrix or anyone else.

Is my script saved if I close the tab?

Yes, automatically. Your script autosaves to your browser as you type, so it is still there next time you open this page on the same browser and device. Click Clear script to remove it.

Can I use this with Zoom, Google Meet or Teams?

Yes. Open the teleprompter in a separate browser window or tab, position it as close to your webcam as you can, and start your call as normal. It does not connect to your meeting in any way - it is just a scrolling script on your screen.

Can I mirror the text for a physical teleprompter rig?

Yes. Click Mirror to flip the text horizontally, which is what you need if you are projecting it onto a teleprompter glass/beamsplitter that reflects the text back the right way round.

Does this work on mobile phones?

You can write and read a script on mobile, and full screen mode works on most modern mobile browsers. Precise speed control is easier with a keyboard, so a laptop or desktop is a better fit if you are fine-tuning the pace against your own speech.

Which browsers are supported?

Any modern browser: Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari (recent versions). Full screen support varies slightly by browser - if the button does not work, the tool still scrolls normally in the regular window.

What are the keyboard shortcuts?
