If you've ever set up **Grafana** by hand on EC2, you know the install is the easy part. The afternoon goes on the certificate, the security group, the reverse proxy and remembering to change the admin password. That's the part this AMI does for you.

With the **Meetrix Grafana AMI**, you can deploy a **production-ready Grafana dashboard server** in your AWS account in just a few clicks, optimized for speed, security, and scale.

## What Is Grafana?

[**Grafana**](https://grafana.com/docs/grafana/latest/) is an open source visualization platform that turns metrics, logs and traces into dashboards. It doesn't store the data itself. It queries wherever the data already lives, which is why it pairs so often with [Prometheus](https://prometheus.io/docs/introduction/overview/) for metrics and Loki for logs.

### Core Features:

- Custom dashboards for real-time monitoring
- Support for Prometheus, Loki, InfluxDB, Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, and more
- Alerting and notification integrations (Slack, PagerDuty, email)
- Role-based access controls (RBAC) and secure sharing
- Plugin ecosystem for data sources, panels, and themes
- Multi-tenant support for enterprise-grade environments

If you're weighing it against Elasticsearch's own UI, our [Grafana vs Kibana comparison](https://meetrix.io/blogs/grafana-vs-kibana/) covers where each one fits.

## Why Use the Meetrix Grafana AMI?

While Grafana is open source and easy to download, setting it up properly in a **secure, scalable AWS environment** can be time-consuming. You’ll need to handle server provisioning, user authentication, SSL certificates, firewall rules, data source integrations, and ongoing maintenance.

The **Meetrix Grafana AMI** launches through a CloudFormation stack and handles most of that list. If your domain is hosted in Route 53, the stack requests the SSL certificate automatically; if not, it's one command on the server.

### Included in the Meetrix AMI:

- Latest stable Grafana version, fully installed
- HTTPS, issued automatically for domains in Route 53
- Pre-configured IAM roles and security groups
- Optional setup for Prometheus, Loki, or custom data sources
- System-level hardening for production use
- 24/7 expert support and consulting services

## Who Should Use This?

This AMI is ideal for:

- **DevOps and SRE teams** needing unified monitoring tools
- **IT operations** teams managing distributed systems or multi-cloud environments
- **Engineering leads** who want real-time visibility into app and service health
- **Startups and enterprises** that need scalable, secure dashboards
- **Agencies or MSPs** who deploy Grafana for multiple clients

## Popular Use Cases

| Use Case | Description |
| --- | --- |
| Kubernetes cluster monitoring | Visualize node metrics, pod health, and service uptime |
| Video infrastructure | Watch Jitsi videobridge load and WebRTC call quality, as in our [videobridge monitoring guide](https://meetrix.io/blogs/monitor-jitsi-videobridge-cloudwatch/) |
| Application performance | Track latency, throughput, and error rates using Prometheus |
| Infrastructure analytics | Combine logs, metrics, and traces from multiple sources |
| Business dashboards | Display KPIs and analytics from PostgreSQL or MySQL |
| DevSecOps visualization | Monitor audit logs, security scans, and intrusion attempts |

## Benefits of Meetrix's Grafana AMI

## Frequently Asked Questions

Can I add my own data sources?

Yes. Grafana connects to Prometheus, CloudWatch, InfluxDB, Loki, PostgreSQL and many more from its Data Sources settings. Meetrix can help wire them into your deployment if you'd rather not do it yourself.

What is the default Grafana login?

admin / admin. Grafana asks you to set a new password on first login. Do it straight away, before the dashboard URL is shared with anyone.

Does it include alerting?

Yes. Grafana's built-in alerting is fully available, with contact points for Slack, PagerDuty, Opsgenie, email and webhooks.

Can I deploy this in a private subnet?

Yes. The AMI works in a public or private subnet of your own VPC. In a private subnet, reach the dashboard through a VPN, bastion or internal load balancer.

How do I upgrade Grafana?

When Meetrix publishes a newer AMI, back up your server data, remove the old deployment and launch the new version from AWS Marketplace.

## Monitor Everything, Anywhere with Grafana by Meetrix on AWS

With the **Grafana Dashboard AMI** you skip the server setup and start on the part that matters: the dashboards. For production video workloads, our notes on [WebRTC monitoring in production](https://meetrix.io/blogs/webrtc-monitoring-production/) are a good list of what to graph first.

A startup putting together its first DevOps stack gets a working dashboard server before lunch. **That's the point: deploy Grafana faster, then spend the time on what you graph.**

**Launch your Grafana monitoring stack on AWS with Meetrix, and take control of your infrastructure visibility.**
